Unfailing Guarantee

Filson stands behind every item it makes with a guarantee that lasts for the lifetime of the product. This guarantee covers failures related to materials, workmanship, craftsmanship, and any manufacturer’s defects. The term lifetime refers to the point at which, through normal use, the product can no longer serve its intended purpose. Under this guarantee, Filson promises to stand by its goods as long as they remain functional for the job they were designed to do.

The guarantee specifically includes failure of materials, failure of workmanship and craftsmanship, and any manufacturer defects. It applies to every item for the entire lifetime of that product. However, certain situations are not covered. These include damage caused by animals, chemicals, mishandling by airlines or third-party shipping companies, extreme wear, alterations done by the customer or a third party, and using an item for something other than its intended purpose. Fluctuations in fit, abuse of the product, factory seconds, and disregard for care instructions are also excluded. Due to their unique nature, Filson Restoration Bags and Old Wolf branded items cannot be replaced under the guarantee. The guarantee applies to all Filson items purchased through an authorized Filson retailer, and every item is subject to evaluation by the Repairs team.

Lifetime, as defined by Filson, means the period during which a product can still perform its intended function under normal use. Once the product has naturally worn out after years of service, the guarantee has fulfilled its purpose. Normal wear and tear is not considered a failure of materials or workmanship. For example, after years of use, a jacket cuff may show some fraying, a belt loop may stretch at the notch you always use, or luggage corners may become scuffed from frequent handling. These are signs of a well-used product, not defects. If a Filson item has served faithfully for a lifetime and is simply showing its age, customers are encouraged to purchase a replacement to serve another lifetime.

If a jacket, pants, or bag becomes torn, the Repairs team will evaluate it. Abuse, neglect, or use outside the intended purpose may mean the damage is not covered. In all cases, repair is the preferred course of action. If the item is deemed unrepairable after evaluation, Filson will contact the customer by email to discuss options. Repairs are made to preserve strength and integrity rather than for aesthetic appeal. If a replacement or gift card is provided, the original product will not be returned. Any alterations or repairs done by the customer or a third party will void the warranty entirely.

Customers unsure whether an item is repairable under the guarantee are welcome to send it in for evaluation. Unfortunately, Filson cannot determine repairability through photos alone. The item must be received and assessed by the Repairs team, after which a representative will follow up. Filson reserves the right to return dirty or soiled items, as they may damage equipment or present health concerns. Customers should thoroughly clean items of dirt, debris, fur, blood, feathers, mud, soot, and grime before shipping. If an item is too soiled to work on, it will be returned for cleaning, and the customer may need to send it back at their own expense.

For gifts received without an order number, Filson customer service can help locate purchase information for any order placed on the website. Gift returns will be refunded either as Filson Credit or as a refund to the original purchaser’s payment method. If no purchasing information is available, the return cannot be processed. This commitment to fairness and durability reflects Filson’s legacy of unfailing goods since 1897.
